2 Origin of Slavery Early Egyptians captured and enslaved their enemies Slaves under African, Egyptian, Greek and Roman systems were not dehumanized. Treated as servants who could advance in life

4 Indentured Servants In Denmark, they were referred to as ‘servingers’ Differed only in name Ate same food as slaves and were treated cruelly Traveled to islands as plantation workers High mortality rate

5 Slavery in the Caribbean European ventures and booming sugar industry is responsible for the introduction of African Slavery in the Caribbean The first Negro came to the New World in 1518 under the Indentured Servant System Plantation owners broke their agreement for fair treatment and started to mistreat the servants
