Introduction To Spirituality Watch the following slide show and listen to the music. Think about what the pictures and music are saying to you.

Introduction To Spirituality Learning objectives: Know that the term ‘spiritual’ has a range of meanings Understand some of the differences in the ways in which people express their spirituality Reflect on the view that spirituality is a central aspect of what it means to be human

Paired Work Separate the cards into essential and non- essential for human beings. Join with another pair and compare your results. Be prepared to feedback to the rest of the class.

What is spirituality? In your book, write a written explanation of what you think spiritual means. Extension: can we use this term in relation to all people or only to ‘religious’ people?

Analyse In groups of 3 or 4 analyse the quotations that express ideas about spirituality. Compare and contrast the ideas expressed in the statements to your own ideas about spirituality. Extension Group the statements together under headings: Ideas you agree with; Ideas you disagree with; Ideas that define spirituality as God, as life after death, as something else.

Spirituality Project You are going to be creating a short project that contains your inner thoughts and feelings. The project must be your best work. The first thing that you are going to create is a title page. You will have some planning time this lesson and will be creating the neat version for homework.

Homework Design a title page for your project that reflects ‘WHO YOU ARE’. Include your likes and dislikes and things that represent you. You can call it want you want as at the end of the day it is you that you are describing. E.g. “ME”. “Students’ name” “My Thoughts” Due: next lesson

Plenary Write down 2 things that you have learnt today on the post-it note.
