What are waves? “Moving energy” Formed when a force causes vibrations through space or matter Vibrations form wavelike disturbances that spread from the source- energy is carried with the waves

Examples of Waves Earthquakes Light Waves (Transverse) Characteristics include trough, crest, amplitude, and wavelength Can travel through a vacuum (space)

Examples… Sound Waves (Longitudinal/Compressional) Characteristics include amplitude, rarefaction, and compression Form of energy formed when vibrating materials produce waves that move through matter
