Each student will be given bathroom passes in a pocket chart. The student will remove a bathroom pass from the pocket chart and place it with the hard bathroom pass on their desk. When the student returns, the pass from the pocket chart is placed on the teacher’s desk in the pass bucket and the hard bathroom pass is placed on the board.
16
Early Finisher Students will check to see if they have any uncompleted assignments. If they do, this will be worked on during this time. Students will retrieve a writing assignment from the basket. Once you have completed the writing assignment, you will retrieve a math assignment. All work for early finishers should be done from the start off/finish off chart. This should only be done when their assigned classwork is complete and they are waiting for others to finish.
17
Home Learning/Practice Students will have a Home Learning Folder with an “out” and “in” pocket. The “out” pocket indicates to be done and the “in” pocket reflects it is completed. Students should take the folder home and return it to school each day.
18
Working in Groups Teacher will assign group members Each student is responsible for their own work. If you have question, ask your fellow group members for help. If your group member asks for help, try your best to help the person. Ask the teacher for help only if the entire group is stumped and everyone can agree on the same question. Music will be played during the group activity. Noise should be kept softer than the music. Transition will be announced.
19
Testing Keep your eyes on your own paper. Remain quiet and seated during test time. Once the test is turned in, you may not have the test back. No bathroom break is allowed. Make sure your pencil is sharp before starting the test. Begin working on the next assignment upon completion of the test without any sound.
20
If You Are Absent When you miss a day of school, you have missed valuable instruction time that cannot be repeated. Work that is missed will be placed in an absent folder on your desk. Upon return, the student should take all work out and place in the home learning folder “out” side. The absent folder should be returned to the teacher. All missed assignments should be completed within three days. If a test is missed, the student will take the test upon their return.
21
Missing Assignments A notice will be provided on a weekly basis of assignments that are missing. They will be printed on color paper. Students will be required to indicate the reason the assignment is missing. The student will sign the card. A parent/guardian will sign the card.
22
Pencils Students will raise the broken or dull pencil above their head. If the time is appropriate, a shake or nod of the head will indicate they may exchange the pencil. If they cannot, they must wait until the teacher approves. The student will walk quietly to the pencil station and exchange the pencil. A pencil monitor will be named on a weekly basis. This person will sharpen the pencils at the appropriate time. Students will place all pencils in the dull can at the end of the day for sharpening and a pencil will be returned.
23
Transitions Transitions will be announced at least two minutes before they occur. A transition cue will be sounded. Cease your activity, return to your desk, and retrieve your textbook for the next activity. Textbook and pencil for the next agenda item should be on the student’s desk. All should be quiet and awaiting the next instruction.
24
Academic Integrity (Honesty in Learning Policy): Students are expected to maintain academic integrity. There should never be any plagiarism, cheating, or any other type of academic dishonesty. All potential cases of academic dishonesty will be settled by notifying administrators, notifying the parents of all students involved, and the student(s) will be given a zero for the assignment. There are NO EXCEPTIONS!!!
25
Classroom Courtesy Above all, I expect the behavior in the classroom to be exceptional. There should never be any interfering with my initiative to teach. When you respect yourself and are committed to the learning experience, our classroom will function efficiently and pleasantly
