We looked at the updated Eco – Island. The children were horrified at some of the areas. We chose to look at Sludge River as it was rated as ‘Dire’. To start, we explored sludge…….

We felt inside the mystery bins and wrote down words we thought of
We felt inside the mystery bins and wrote down words we thought of! It was very gooey!! But, we came up with some fantastic language.

So, what were we feeling?

Two different buckets: one had wallpaper paste the other had shredded paper and water mixed.

We looked at all the words we had gathered on the posters and thought about how Sludge River would be if it felt like that. We took our fantastic language and wrote some brilliant river shaped poems. We hope you enjoy reading through them.

Once the river was nice and clean Now it is sludgy and soggy
and fish are dying and it’s brown smelly. I wish the river is clean blue. Ethan Peel age 8 You started off as a beautiful crystal river. Now you are all crusty and dirty. I wish were and clean. Lana Williamson age 6

Crystal River The river is now mushy, The river is now slimy,
It used to be good, But now it’s bad. Crystal River Can you see yourself, sludgy river? See you gushing rushing and pushing all the way down. But now look at you!!! Can’t people see we need to stop? Stop you going black and blue. Something must be done to make you sparkle as you used to. You’re terribly gooey mushy and grungy. I really hope one day People will take my advice to make our rivers clean! And make you all a pretty green! MING SANDFORD – Age 8 CRYSTAL RIVER Rivers should Be nice. but people make them bad. Now it is mushy and it should be shiny. Crystal River Gooey slimey and horrible. Squidy cold wet. It makes me feel sad about all the animals that have died in you. You are not improving at all. ou are so smelly that no one ever goes near you. You ooze down so slowly because you are all horrible and sludgy. Please take care of the rivers!!!! Sludge River It is gooey and slimey and brown I wish it was blue! Christina Anderson – age 6 Sludge River River pollution is repulsive as can be! All sticky and gooey! The river should be clean as can be! I hope sometime you take my advice instead of dumping your waste in it. Brown and green’s not nice to see in a river. It smells like poo and toxic waste. Please turn Crystal River into what it looked like before. Calvin Brown – age 10
