Analog and Digital Signal by: M. Ilham Akbar 125060300111049

An analog signal is any continous signal for which the time varying feature (variable) of the signal is a representation of some other time varying quantity.

Analog Signal Form

Standard Unit Speed >> hertz (Hz) in second

Amplifier To Amplify (message & noise) Analog wave called baud.

Digital signals must have a finite set of possible values. The number of values in the set can be anywhere between two and a-very- large-number-that’s-not-infinity. Most commonly digital signals will be one of two values – like either (0V and 5V) or (0 and 1). Timing graphs of these signals look like square waves.

Digital Signal Form

Digital Signal Processing

Analog to Digital Conversion Analog signal limitation >> susceptible to noise Digital signal superiority>> stable quality With the result that Combination of Analog and Digital signal

Analog to Digital Conversion

An analog to digital converter converts a continuous physical quantity (usually voltage) to a digital number that represents the quantity's amplitude (0 and 1).

Continous Good for low traffic comunication High possibility to error Hard to fix an error Susceptible to noise Small information capacity Hard to modificate the signal Frequency-based concept A lot of bandwith Discrete Good for high traffic communication Small possibility to error Easy to fix an error Resistant to noise Bigger information capacity Easy to modificate the signal Time-based concept Less bandwith
