1 Health Summer Camps Cachamsi 2011 Participants: Boston University and Dartmouth University Cacha-Riobamba-Ecuador

2 Objectives for Medical Students. Educate Cacha school children on health/medical topics. Practice Spanish with indigenous children. Contribute to personal enrichment of indigenous children.

Minimum high intermediate level of Spanish. Willing to learn interactive/engagin g methods to manage children.

4 Cacha Schools We supported 3 schools with our computer classes. We supported 6 schools since 2009. We are adding a new school this year. There will be 10 schools participating in 2011. The schools will be divided by geographic location and according to the 2 Ecuadorian local health team (4 members in each team; a doctor, a dentist, nurse, indigenous nurse aide). The local teachers will have a role in these camps, need to define this role with Maria Elena and the Riobamba Regional Director of Education. School# Students#Medical Students

5 Schedule Medical students will meet at the Cachamsi Office in Riobamba at 7:30am. Transportation will be provided to the school site in Riobamba. Teams (4 medical students) will work together per school, there will be a break in between the lessons. (confirm) Cachamsi will provide snacks. At noon or so, the medical students will be transported to the Cachamsi office in Riobamba. From the Cachamsi office the students will go to their families for lunch. Medical Spanish classes will start at 3pm at the Cachamsi office in Riobamba.
