2. Log on with your Smartcard (DELL Keyboard reader) …and select your Registration Authority Agent role

3. Go to the NHS Spine Portal Click “Launch NCRS Smartcard Management Service” An intermediate screen will appear 

4. Enter your PIN number again and click “Logon”

5. Click Cancel Card Note: Write the user’s 12 digit smartcard number down on a piece of paper

6. Insert the locked card into the second (external) card reader It will display the owner of the card - click “Confirm”

7. Click the arrow on the drop down box select “Revocation (other) (revoke) Type in the Details Field “Certificate Renewal” Click “Continue”

8. Cancel Card operation completed Main Menu Click “Issue Card”

9. Type the smartcard number in the UID box Click and select the top name: RA Manager Click “Search”

10. The user appears Click the user

11. Click the drop down box arrow and select “NHS Care Records Service – Unlocked” Then click “Accept”

12. Ask the user to input their preferred PIN number in both boxes, then click “Next” Note: The PIN number is between 4 and 8 characters long, it can be both letters and numbers but it is case sensitive - for simplicity sake, we recommend a 4 digit PIN number (like a bank PIN).

13. Interim screens like this will scroll through the process of writing certificates to the chip Click “Skip Printing”

14. Final screen. Click “Log Off” and remove smartcards
