Chapter 1, Lesson 2 How Does a Historian Work? It Matters Because: Knowing how historians work helps us understand historical information.

I. What is Evidence? A. Historians draw evidence from two types of sources Primary 1. Primary - evidence from an eyewitness to an event Secondary 2. Secondary - evidence from a source that is not an eyewitness B. Historians must determine if source is reliable point of view 1. A source’s point of view can affect its reliability. How? a. may influence what information is included & what is omitted bias 2. A source’s bias can affect its reliability. How? a. information may or may not be given truthfully
