COTTON gin The cotton gin is a mechanical device that removes seeds from cotton. Gin is short for engine. The invention of the cotton gin revolutionized the cotton industry in the united states.

Cotton gin cont. Do to his invention, farming cotton required hundreds of man hours to separate the cottonseed from the raw cotton fibers.

Cotton gin Eli Whitney designed the cotton gin to try to put a end to slavery, but it actually increased slavery. It increased slavery because if they had more people to work the cotton gins they could make more money.

How much could the cotton gin clean? The cotton gin could clean up to 50 pounds a day, that’s more that half of what men could do in a month.
