2
55th IETF GSMP WG, Atlanta 2 Works for Optical Support GSMPv3 for optical support Resources/labels should be dealt with optical switching Additional functions/messages should be added for Protection and Restoration capabilities What other capabilities are added ?
3
55th IETF GSMP WG, Atlanta 3 Common Definitions and Procedures (1) Labels for optical switching as well as optical transfer A single fiber in a bundle A single waveband within a fiber A single wavelength within a waveband (or a fiber) An optical burst within a wavelength Label Formats for optical switching support ?
4
55th IETF GSMP WG, Atlanta 4 Common Definitions and Procedures (2) Protection and Restoration using GSMP Dedicated protection Create a backup link by using Add Branch Message Revertible mode; A backup link (by Move Input Branch Message) a restored original link Non-revertible mode A restored original link; deleted (by Delete Branch Message) or used a backup link (Add Branch Message) Shared protection Shared backup links are reserved by using Reservation Management Messages which contain Reservation ID for restoration
5
55th IETF GSMP WG, Atlanta 5 Connection Management Messages Move Output Branch Message Should be able to change the failed output port to the reserved port in case of shared protection Old output field; the failed link port, new output field; backup link port Move Input Branch Message Should be able to move back to the original connection from a backup connection in case of revertible mode in restoration Old input field; the failed link port, new input field; the original link port (note) Other connection messages and formats will be included based on GSMPv3 and Requirement Spec.
6
55th IETF GSMP WG, Atlanta 6 Reservation Management Messages Reserve optical resources (connection) Optical burst, wavelength, waveband, fiber for establishing a connection Should be able to support shared protection Reservation ID; the reserved backup connection The input/output label must be assigned Must be simplified to use the reserved connection upon a fault new message format ? (note) Other management messages and formats will be added based on GSMPv3 and Requirement Spec.
7
55th IETF GSMP WG, Atlanta 7 State and Statistics Messages Specify optical signal characteristics for P&R actions Signal degradation Loss of signal How to operate Optical Protection & Restoration ? Automatically done and notify later or Notify first and done by GSMP ? How to indicate urgent events for fast switching control (note) Other messages will be added based on GSMPv3 and Requirement Spec.
8
55th IETF GSMP WG, Atlanta 8 Configuration Messages Switch Configuration Message Switching layers (elements) Switching per optical burst, wavelength, waveband, or fiber/fiber bundle Port Configuration Message Newly added values Available or protected wavelengths per an interface Bit rate per wavelength or port Type of fiber Service Configuration Message Service definition; service model, QoS parameter, traffic control elements TBD How to apply P&R logically and physically (i.e., SRLG, SRG) ?
9
55th IETF GSMP WG, Atlanta 9 Event Messages and Failure Response Code Event Messages for P&R are needed ? Failure Response Code No available wavelength at a port No available backup link for protection Waveband connect setup fails Reservation for optical burst fails Fail codes for Protection and Restoration are added or not ? (note) Other messages will be added based on GSMPv3 and Requirement Spec.
10
55th IETF GSMP WG, Atlanta 10 Next Steps Collaborations with ccamp WG may be needed for detail specification Label encoding rule for optical switching resources (optical burst, wavelength, waveband, fiber, and fiber bundle, etc.) In a case, label encoding of optical switching resources may be different from that of optical transmission resources ? Optical Service Definition and Procedures including P&R Other switching management capabilities of optical network are needed in future ? Develop GSMP spec. based on optical switching capabilities according to existing GMPLS knowledge and principle ?
