1 An Introduction to Prezi Created By: Angela Powell Fall 2010 EDUC 370 JMU

2 Overview Instruct how to create a Prezi account and log out. Demonstrate how to generate and save a presentation. Test the learners skills. Apply what was learned.

3 Goal Learn how to use Prezi by creating an account and generating an animated presentation.

4 Objectives TA will be able to do the following on their own and with limited online support: – access Prezi via an internet browser – create an account and log in for future use – generate a presentation with effects and animation – save the presentation and log out.

6 Let’s get started…

7 Creating an account Open an internet browser and access Prezi at. Select Sign up in the top right corner of your screen.

8 Creating an account Pick a license that is suitable for your needs. You can upgrade at any time.

9 Creating an account Fill in the blank fields. Read the Terms of Use and select “I understand…” Register.

10 Generating a presentation canvas Select Start using Prezi now. Click the x button in the top corner of the highlighted window to return to the main Prezi website.

11 Generating a presentation canvas To get started, select New prezi. Fill in the blank fields. Again, select New prezi.

12 Now it’s time to start creating!

13 Creating an online, animated presentation Click anywhere and begin typing. Test the options. Add ideas all over the canvas.

14 Creating an online, animated presentation The top left corner allows you to change options. Click each circle and try a few.

15 Creating an online, animated presentation The object that appears on top of your text is called the Zebra. Clicking the plus sign opens another list of options; the minus sign will minimize this list. The outer circle rotates the text. The middle circle changes the zoom. – clockwise = zoom in – counter-clockwise = zoom out The inner circle grabs the text so you can place it elsewhere on the canvas.

16 Creating an online, animated presentation Once you have added all of your elements, it is time to animate your presentation. – Select Path from the top left corner of options. – You can delete the animation at any time. Click each of your elements to set the order.

17 Creating an online, animated presentation Preview your presentation before uploading it by selecting Show. – Use the arrow keys to move through the presentation. – Select Full Screen to view in full screen mode.

18 Saving the presentation If you stay connected to the internet while creating, your document will automatically save itself. To save manually, click Save now? at the top right corner.

19 Logging out of Prezi’s database To leave your presentation canvas select Exit at the top right corner. Click the arrow to the right of your login name. Select Logout.

20 Summary You should now be able to do the following: – create an Prezi account – log in and out of Prezi – animate a presentation – save your work

21 Time to test your skills…

22 Assessment Log in to your Prezi account. Create a new presentation and test it. – Use at least five objects and transitions. – Change the color and font to loud manifesto. – Sign your name. Save your document and log out of Prezi.
