Overview You will add color codes and other information to a provided periodic table of elements You may use this paper copy on all future tests and quizzes if you so desire You may make a digital copy and then print it for use on tests and quizzes if you so desire as well

NOTE: This series of slides does not include the bottom two rows of the periodic table; this is to allow space to write directions, etc

STEP 1: Draw a thick border around the metals; Everything outside the borders are nonmetals

STEP 2: Label Groups and Periods; Number the Periods Periods Groups 1 2 3 4 5 6

STEP 3: Write the words “Transition Metals” Transition Metals

STEP 4: Pick any 5 colors that you want. Color alkali metals, alkaline earth metals, metalloids, halogens, and noble gases; Put same colors on color key

STEP 5: Write the normal charges of ions formed +1 +2+3+4-3-2 0

STEP 6: Write what atomic # and atomic mass mean = # protons/# electrons - # protons + #neutrons
