2 Intro There is convincing evidence that the burden of hypertension and CVD are on the rise in urban slums

3 Aim To describe a multi- component community- based intervention aiming to reduce CVD risk through screening and treatment of hypertension among adults > 35 years in a large Nairobi slum

10 Conclusions Awareness and treatment levels possible within reasonable costs Retention in care and blood pressure control remain a challenge (rule of halves). Patient-related costs and accessibility are key barriers that require public health intervention
