6 How tall is the pole? To find the length of the diagonal, I used the Pythagorean Theorem. I squared the sides that I knew. I subtracted the square of the leg from the square of the hypotenuse. I took the square root of the area to find the length of the pole. A 26-foot rope is used to brace a tent pole at the county fair. The rope is anchored 10 feet from the base of the pole.
