Cattle Drive Game You hired 18 cowboys and rounded up 1,000 head of cattle Your journey is 4 weeks long You have to pick a cattle trail Your choices will determine how much money you make

Western Group of cattle rustlers steal 140 of your cattle - 140 cattle

Goodnight-Loving Lightning storm causes stampede, 30 cows go missing and one cowboy dies - 30 cows - 1 cowboy

Choice A Herd panics crossing a busy river, 50 cows perish - 50 cows

Choice B You find some unbranded cows + 40 cows

Choice C Menacing farmers block your way (why?) you get in a gunfight and lose 3 cowboys - 3 cowboys

Choice 4 Natives block your path and demand payment for crossing their land- you choose to pay up -100 cattle

You’ve made it to your destination! First thing first- get out your calculator/phone You must subtract 50 cattle for any missing cowboys. You should have 18 cowboys, any less and you need to subtract Example- you have 15 cowboys you must subtract 150 cows

How much money do you make before expenses? Sedalia Trail- 15 dollars per cow Lack of rain means that your cattle arrive to market in poorer condition

How much money do you make before expenses? Western- 18 dollars per cow Cattle market is booming

How much money do you make before expenses? Chisholm- 19 dollars per cow Demand for beef is up Price of cows X # of cows = income

How much money do you make before expenses? Goodnight-Loving - 16 dollars per cow During the last week your cows had insufficient grass to eat causing them to lose weight

Now you have to pay your people You owe $50 per month to each cowboy PLUS a cook for their work You owe $125 per month to your trail boss You must pay for 3 months work (1 month on the long drive and the previous 2 months to round up all of the wild longhorns)

Now you have to pay for horses You buy 18 extra horses for the cowboys for when their horses tire out. ($100 per horse)

Provisions You must provide for a month’s worth of food and supplies for 20 people, you must buy a fully equipped chuck wagon and the mules or oxen to pull this wagon. ($500 for food & supplies and $1250 for the mules and wagon)

Total Expenses Payroll + Horses + Provisions = Total Expenses
