Girls in Real Life Situations G.I.R.L.S. An All Girls Group Small Group Intervention Plan Presented by: Pam Krusling
2
Rationale Simply recognizing girl-to-girl bullying will not necessarily dismantle the abusive social phenomenon. Teachers, counselors, administrators must find ways to integrate opportunities to teach socially responsible actions in order to replace apathy as a response to girl bullying. They must bring girl bullying out of the dark side of schooling experiences into places illuminated by thoughtful alternatives to girl relationships, and they must develop mindful strategies to support these new relationships. (SooHoo) Secretary of Education, Arne Duncan, noting, “Bullying starts young — and we need to reach students when they are young with the message that bullying is not O.K.” Capt. Stephanie Bryn, a Public Health Service officer states, “children are aging up, making bullying pervasive in the early elementary years. “We realized we need to address this in kindergarten.” (Paul)
