Romans 5: 6-8(NKJV) 6 For when we were still without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. 7 For scarcely for a righteous man will one die; yet perhaps for a good man someone would even dare to die. 8 But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

Abundance of Love Romans 5:6-8

Abundance of Love It’s been said that “Love makes the world go around” It’s amazing to think that there are many people in this world who feel unloved We see examples everyday of a lack of love in our world

Abundance of Love People can certainly be cruel at times However, to understand who God is and the blessings attached to Him is to realize that we should never feel unloved As we think of the “Abundant Life”, we should think about love

Love Taught This abundant love that we enjoy is a love that has been taught to us God’s love came to us first before we ever knew or understood what love was (I Jn. 4:19) “In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us…” (I Jn. 4:10)

Love Taught God loved us when we were unlovable He loved us while we were still sinners (Rom. 5:6-8; Titus 3:3-5) When we see the abundant love of God, we learn how to love based upon His love

Love Taught Not only did God teach us to love, but He has taught us how to love How many in the world still think that love is just a feeling (once that feeling is gone, love is gone) Love is more than a feeling, it’s a choice (Matt. 5:44; I Cor. 13:4-8)

Love For All This abundant love is a love that God has offered to all men, not just a select few John 3:16 God’s love was for sinners; the Bible teaches us that we are all sinners (Rom. 5:8; 3:23)

Love For All We see this also in God’s desire to save mankind He desires all to be saved (I Tim. 2:4; II Pet. 3:9) However, there are many who misunderstand or misapply this unique aspect of God’s love

Love For All Some take it to mean that God loves is therefore accepting of our sins God loves us, but He does not love our sin (Prov. 6:16-19) We are also taught to hate sin, but we do not hate the individual (Amos 5:15; Matt. 5:44)

Supreme Love The love that God has for us is certainly a supreme love The Greek word we see most associated with it is agape Agape is a word that is used to denote an ultimate love that actually means “love feast”

Supreme Love God’s love is supreme because of it’s magnitude God has loved us while we were without strength, ungodly, sinners and enemies (Rom. 5:6-10) He sent His one and only Son to die for us!

Love Reciprocated John outlines exactly what the love God has given us means in terms of ourselves as well as others He tells us simply that God is love (I Jn. 4:8) If we claim to know Him then we must love based upon this fact (v. 7)

Love Reciprocated Again, we are taught that we love Him because He loved us first (v. 19) God’s love is a love that we are to reciprocate back to Him His love also causes us to love others, like those who are our neighbors (vs. 7, 11, 21)
