2 What is a public holiday? A public holiday (also known as a statutory or stat holiday) is any holiday that is recognized at the federal, provincial or territorial level. Currently in Saskatchewan we have 10 statutory holidays per year.

3 What are the Statutory holidays in 2016? New Years Day, January 1 st 2016 Family Day, February 15 th, 2016 Good Friday, March 25 th, 2016 Victoria Day, May 23 rd, 2016 Canada Day, July 1 st, 2016 Civic holiday (Saskatchewan Day), August 1 st, 2016 Labour Day, September 5 th, 2016 Thanksgiving, October 10 th, 2016 Remembrance Day, November 11 th, 2016 Christmas Day, December 25 th, 2016

4 Which “stat” holidays are national and which are provincial? National New Years Day Good Friday Canada Day Labour Day Thanksgiving Remembrance Day Christmas Victoria Day Provincial Family Day Civic Holiday (Saskatchewan Day)

5 Does your pay change if you work a stat? 5% 3/52x your normal hourly wage 1.5x your normal wage Time and a Half or Premium Pay. Yes. EVERYONE is paid what is called “holiday pay” which is about 5% of your normal wage or 3/52x your normal hourly wage every year. If you choose to work a stat holiday, you earn 1.5x your normal wage, which is also called Time and a Half or Premium Pay.

6 When am I entitled to “Premium Pay”? four months You are entitled to Stat pay as soon as you’ve worked for a company more than four months, or after you’ve gotten through the probationary period.
