1 Intervals Steps Scales Major, Minor, Augmented, Diminished, and Perfect

2 An Overview An interval is the distance between two notes. Intervals are always counted from the lower note to the higher one, with the lower note being counted as one. Intervals come in different qualities and size.

3 Quality M - Major. This is the sound that is most commonly heard and used. m - Minor. This is the sound used when there is sadness. P - Perfect. This is commonly a happy sound, Used in Here comes the bride (P4) and Star wars (P5) A - Augmented. This is used in extreme happy situations. D - Diminished. This sound is used in horror/scary moments in movies.

4 Major, Minor, Augmented Diminished. When a major interval is raised by a half step, it becomes augmented. When a major interval is lowered by a half step, it becomes minor. When a major interval is lowered by two half steps, it becomes diminished. When a minor interval is raised by a half step, it becomes major. When a minor interval is raised by two half steps, it becomes augmented. When a minor interval is lowered by a half step, it becomes diminished. When a perfect interval is raised by a half step, it becomes augmented. When a perfect interval is lowered by a half step, it becomes diminished.
