2 Making a Scatterplot First, we need to input our table of data and graph it on the calculator…

3 First, press ON. Press ON. NextBack

4 First, press ON. Press ON. Press STAT. NextBack

5 First, press ON. Press ON. Press STAT. Hit ENTER to choose Edit (or press 1). NextBack

6 First, press ON. Press ON. Press STAT. Hit ENTER to choose Edit (or press 1). Type your x-values into L1. NextBack Click here to learn how to delete. If you need to delete any entries, just move you cursor over the entry and hit the DEL (delete) button. If you need to clear an entire column, move your cursor up to the column name (L1 or L2 or whichever) and hit CLEAR and ENTER. Do NOT hit DEL on the name of the column, or it will actually remove the entire column. L1 or L2 will no longer exist, and you will have to reset the calculator.

7 First, press ON. Press ON. Press STAT. Hit ENTER to choose Edit (or press 1). Type your x-values into L1. Use the right arrow to move to L2. NextBack

10 First, press ON. Press ON. Press STAT. Hit ENTER to choose Edit (or press 1). Type your x-values into L1. Use the arrows to move to L2. Type your y-values into L2. Now hit [2 nd ] [Y=] to access STAT PLOT. Press ENTER to look at Plot1. NextBack

11 First, press ON. Press ON. Press STAT. Hit ENTER to choose Edit (or press 1). Type your x-values into L1. Use the arrows to move to L2. Type your y-values into L2. Now hit [2 nd ] [Y=] to access STAT PLOT. Press ENTER to look at Plot1. Press ENTER to turn ON the plot. Make sure your screen looks like what you see on the left. If not, use your arrows to move around and press ENTER to highlight the appropriate choices. NextBack

12 First, press ON. Press ON. Press STAT. Hit ENTER to choose Edit (or press 1). Type your x-values into L1. Use the arrows to move to L2. Type your y-values into L2. Now hit [2 nd ] [Y=] to access STAT PLOT. Press ENTER to look at Plot1. Press ENTER to turn ON the plot. Make sure your screen looks like what you see on the left. If not, use your arrows to move around and press ENTER to highlight the appropriate choices. Now hit ZOOM… NextBack

13 First, press ON. Press ON. Press STAT. Hit ENTER to choose Edit (or press 1). Type your x-values into L1. Use the arrows to move to L2. Type your y-values into L2. Now hit [2 nd ] [Y=] to access STAT PLOT. Press ENTER to look at Plot1. Press ENTER to turn ON the plot. Make sure your screen looks like what you see on the left. If not, use your arrows to move around and press ENTER to highlight the appropriate choices. Now hit ZOOM…and then 9 (or scroll down with the arrows and choose 9: ZoomStat. NextBack

14 First, press ON. Now we’ve got our scatterplot of the data! Next, we are going to find the “Line of Best Fit” using the calculator’s Linear Regression feature… NextBack

15 Finding the Line of Best Fit Now that we have the scatterplot, we will find the line of best fit…

17 First, press ON. Press STAT again. Press Right Arrow to move to the CALC menu… NextBack

18 First, press ON. Press STAT again. Press Right Arrow to move to the CALC menu… Press 4 to choose LinReg(ax+b). [Or you can use the arrows to move down and then hit ENTER.] NextBack

21 First, press ON. Press STAT again. Press Right Arrow to move to the CALC menu… Press 4 to choose LinReg(ax+b). [Or you can use the arrows to move down and then hit ENTER.] Press VARS. Press Right Arrow to choose Y-VARS. Press ENTER to choose 1:Function. NextBack

22 First, press ON. Press STAT again. Press Right Arrow to move to the CALC menu… Press 4 to choose LinReg(ax+b). [Or you can use the arrows to move down and then hit ENTER.] Press VARS. Press Right Arrow to choose Y-VARS. Press ENTER to choose 1:Function. Press ENTER to choose Y1 (or choose any other you like). NextBack

23 First, press ON. Press STAT again. Press Right Arrow to move to the CALC menu… Press 4 to choose LinReg(ax+b). [Or you can use the arrows to move down and then hit ENTER.] Press VARS. Press Right Arrow to choose Y-VARS. Press ENTER to choose 1:Function. Press ENTER to choose Y1 (or choose any other you like). Now, press ENTER one more time to run the command LinReg(ax+b)Y1. 24 First, press ON. Now, if you hit [Y=] you can see that the function has automatically been put there for you! NextBack

25 First, press ON. Now, if you hit [Y=] you can see that the function has automatically been put there for you! Write this on your paper as: y = 38.928571428571x + 819.04761904759 NextBack

26 First, press ON. Now, if you hit [Y=] you can see that the function has automatically been put there for you! Write this on your paper as: y = 38.928571428571x + 819.04761904759 Finally, hit GRAPH to see it graphed along with your data! NextBack
