6 Self-Audit in the Working Groups South-Germany & Bavaria (9 Hospitals)

7 Feedback after the Workshop More systematically approach to a defined target than single actions We identified areas of improvement and we know now what to do We adjusted our activities and set a higher priority on training and support for the staff There is a higher motivation to implement the ENSH- Code and we are more confident of success We have a better information and better arguments for the implementation process We got helpful information from the other hospitals by discussing the results of the self audit

9 What happened? Regular meetings on local level with reports and sharing experience  Training for project leaders was cancelled Use of the Manual for Project leaders for smoke-free Hospitals and the ENSH Implementation guide Active hospitals took over work packages Text for patient information survey for employees information for employees

10 Results of the project (until now) One hospital already received the Bronze Certificate two hospitals applied for the Bronze Certificate and one applied for the Silver Certificate Partnership in the Smoke-free project of the Health Ministry in Bavaria: –1 st Bavarian Conference for Smoke-free Hospitals June 1 st in Munich

11 Requirements for success Commitment of the management Accessible target and resources Co-ordination for the Working Group and in each hospital (project management) Regular local meetings Support through training and guidelines Regular reports and reviews

12 Benefits of a Regional Working Group Sharing experience helps to avoid „re- inventing the wheel“ Inspiration and support for the project leaders Success of the network by developing and exchanging good practice Results of a group are better recognised than a project of a single hospital
