Multiplying a number by ten, makes all of its digits worth 10 times more, so they all shift along to the left one place. EG 234×10

Or in terms of place value houses: Millions 234 2340 ThousandsOnes The above diagram shows how each digit moves to the left by 1 place as it becomes worth 10 times more and the empty space in the ones column is filled with a zero as a place holder.
