1 FIDIC Events 2005-2006 FIDIC offers a broad range of training-related activities.

2 Types of training activities Courses: in-depth presentations supplemented by break-out sessions and well-documented cases studies Workshops: sharing of experience in moderated working groups Seminars:a broader coverage of topics around a core theme by providing a series of presentations Conferences: plenary presentations that expose participants to leading authorities in the field

3 Types of training activities Training centres: make use of established educational institutions to extend training to cover business practice through collaboration with FIDIC and its Member Associations (examples: China, Korea, Australia) Training Programmes: a broader range of topics covered and a more flexible organisation (example: Young Professionals) In-house: tailored for specific needs (mainly firms)

4 Organisation FIDIC generally works in partnership with other organisations, usually one or two for a given activity and rarely more than three. Member Associations International Agencies Organisations and financing institutions Commericial suppliers of training events

5 Content The content for FIDIC’s training activities is based on the FIDIC Guide to Practice training kit modules: financial management; firm management; business development; preparing for the future and resources for contracts-related training: procurement and tendering; contracts and dispute resolution.

6 Content Business practice principles: a broad coverage of business practice principles followed by the in- depth treatment of specific topics. Industry capacity development: the main business practice and contracts-related requirements are presented, followed by a more detailed treatment of key topics. Then follows discussion to formulate a capacity building plan.
