Clincher Sentence Also known as a concluding sentence, pulls together the preceding sentences by emphasizing the main idea. Ending with a clincher sentence is an effective way to ensure that the reader gets the overall point of the paragraph.
12
What Makes a Good Paragraph? Unity, coherence and elaboration. When a paragraph has unity – all the sentences relate to the main idea. When a paragraph has coherence – the reader can easily see how all the details are connected, all of the sentences logically fit together. Elaborating details help clearly and accurately describe the main idea.
