What Chadwick Did Chadwick proved there was a neutron in atoms. In 1935, he was awarded the Nobel Prize for his discovery.

Theories James Proved Wrong He proved Rutherford's electron- proton pair to be incorrect. James also proved that there were no free electrons in the nucleus of an atom.

About Chadwick Chadwick was the son of John Joseph Chadwick and Anne Mary Knowles. Chadwick went to many colleges until he was taken prisoner in WWI. When he got out, he went back to colleges to later discovered neutrons and other methods.

Fun Facts Chadwick was officially knighted in 1945 by King George VI in recognition of his accomplishments and contributions to the scientific community. He was known as Sir James Chadwick from that moment on. During WWII, he helped research for the atomic bomb in the Manhattan Project.
