What does Jesus think about generosity?
3
Nothing is given to us on the basis of ownership, only stewardship.
4
1. Generosity makes sense from a physical and emotional angle.
5
2. Generosity is the way of life that Jesus commands His followers to follow.
6
3. Generosity releases God’s generosity in your earthly life.
7
2 Corinthians 9:6-92 “Now this I say, he who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap
8
bountifully. Each one must do just as he has purposed in his heart, not grudgingly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And
9
God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that always having all sufficiency in everything, you may have an abundance for every
10
good deed; as it is written, “He scattered abroad, He gave to the poor, His righteousness endures forever.”
11
Generous people will tell you that God can be trusted to fulfill His promises.
12
4. Generosity in our lives glorifies God.
13
2 Corinthians 9:6-10-15 “Now He who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will supply and multiply your seed for sowing and
14
increase the harvest of your righteousness; you will be enriched in everything for all liberality, which through us is producing thanksgiving to
15
God. For the ministry of this service is not only fully supplying the needs of the saints, but is also overflowing through many
16
thanksgivings to God. Because of the proof given by this ministry, they will glorify God for your obedience to your
17
confession of the gospel of Christ and for the liberality of your contribution to them and to all, while they also, by prayer on your behalf, yearn
18
for you because of the surpassing grace of God in you. Thanks be to God for His indescribable gift!”
19
Generosity will bring glory to God because there is no one else that models this beside Jesus and His followers!
20
5. Generosity is rewarded in our Future.
21
Matthew 5:19-21 “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and reust destroy, and where thieves break in and
22
steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in Heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys, and where thieves do not break in or
23
steal; for where your treasure is there your heart will be also.”
25
