Station 3: Incline Plane Vertical— –Calculate the amount of work done when you lift an object from the desk to the top of the ramp. Ramp— –Calculate the amount of work done when you drag an object from the desk using the incline plane to the top of the ramp. ***Your forces and distances will be different for each calculation. Tools: –Spring scale –Meter stick –iPad Calculator Camera

Station 4: Friction Smooth— –Calculate the amount of work done when you drag an object across a smooth desk for a distance. Rough— –Calculate the amount of work done when you drag an object across sandpaper for a distance. ***Your forces and distances will be different for each calculation. Tools: –Spring scale –Meter stick –iPad Calculator Camera

Station 5: Power Calculate the power rating of lifting an object from the floor to the top of your shortest group member’s head. Slow—lift object slowly Fast—lift object quickly –Be sure to use the correct units of measurement. –Record the action of this lab on your iPad. Tools: –Spring scale –Meter stick –iPad Calculator Camera Clock—stopwatch

Station 6: Power Calculate the power rating of lifting an object from the floor to the top of any group member’s head. Slow—lift object slowly Fast—lift object quickly –Be sure to use the correct units of measurement. –Record the action of this lab on your iPad. Tools: –Spring scale –Meter stick –iPad Calculator Camera Clock—stopwatch

Station 7: Work Calculate the amount of work done when you jump as high as you can in one spot. (choose only one person—not the same as station 8) –You will have to use Safari to find a unit converter ( convertunits.com ). Convert pounds to newtons. –Be sure to use the correct units of measurement. –Record the action of this lab on your iPad. Tools: –Meter stick –iPad Calculator Camera Safari
