3 Current Orthopaedic Unit Challenges  Future plan to change to an Acute Hip Fracture ward – staff concerns  OT service, one OT, in Saturday only, covering elective enhanced recovery and trauma  PT service, one physiotherapist, in Saturday and Sunday covering elective enhanced recovery and trauma potential discharges. Hip # can not be a priority at present. (work load last Saturday 17 elective patients, 6 trauma)  Friday, Saturday Hip # have to wait until Monday for initial physiotherapy assessment

4 Facilities  Physiotherapy gym between the trauma wards  Close to bed rehab space on same level  Gym  OT assessment suite

5 Developments – Hip # project  Acute Hip # Ward by end of year  0.6 WTE physiotherapist added to the team who will contribute to the PT weekend rota  0.8 WTE × 2 generic therapy support workers band 4  Increased OT and PT input at the weekends for earlier assessment, mobility, PADL etc.  Increased OT and PT input Monday to Friday  More frequent and longer rehab time for each patient  More staff to facilitate use of gyms  Aim - improved outcomes and service
