2. The Early Renaissance The Early Renaissance (Italy) 1400-1500 Started in Florence, Italy Wealthy families, & royal courts become patrons of art. Artists were inspired by the works of “classical” Greece & Rome. ONE POINT PERSPECTIVE RE-INVENTED Return to a more NATURAL looking art, away from the strict Byzantine Art..but bodies are elongated a bit. This is the first time that ARTIST are perceived as brilliant and talented, not simply craftspeople.

3. Masaccio Artists in early renaissance were known for rebirth in realistic clothing and humanistic features. Very few were as good as the young Masaccio. A remarkable example of one point perspective. (NEW CONCEPT IN THE RENN.) The viewer is set to look up to the " Holy Trinity " and below to the tomb. God is seen as Human, The holy spirit a White Dove both above Jesus the Son below. The skeleton ( may be Adam below) Masaccio bases this off of realism and Math to form symmetry in the composition.
