3.  Kayla is a caring friend. › In class, she congratulates her classmates for a job well done. › She listens to her friends and teachers. › She always uses kind words when speaking to others. › In the morning, she greets her teacher by asking how she is and listens to the reply. › She never holds a grudge and always forgives people for their mistakes.

4.  Kayla is industrious. › She reads every night. She loves Diary of a Wimpy Kid! › She turns in quality work. Good grades are important to her and her family. › She is very helpful at home and at school. She always does her chores. › She practiced her multiplication every night until she mastered each fact family.

5.  Kayla is involved in her community. › On the weekends she helps her mom at the animal shelter. She loves playing with the dogs! › She brings in soup labels and box tops to her school! › Community service projects make Kayla feel like she is making a difference.

6.  Kelly wishes she had more friends. › When playing games, she often complains that the other team cheated. › She doesn’t listen but rather waits for her turn to speak. › She often tells people that she isn’t their friend any more over small disagreements. › Her classmates don’t like this behavior very much.

7.  Kelly doesn’t make very good grades. › She never reads at home, unless she has to. › Her homework is often late and sometimes never turned in. › She gets in trouble at home for not doing her chores and her desk is always a mess at school. › She will be in fifth grade next year and can’t multiply! Her parents are disappointed.

8.  Kelly is not involved in her community. › On the weekends, she watches a lot of TV. › Her class did not win the contest for bringing in Coke lids for reward points.

9.  Kayla and Kelly are sisters. › Kayla has kindly volunteered to help Kelly practice reading and multiplying. › Kelly went to the animal shelter and learned that community service can be fun and rewarding. Maybe the girls will no longer be on opposite sides of the road!
