Activities since last AGM (Nov 2008) Brunswick/CRC site 4 Planning consent granted July 2009. RARA input on plans, S106 suggestions. Strawberry Fair 09Input to planning (policing, litter, camping, emergency contacts). In loop for 2010. Abbey/Riverside junction closure Spoke at East Area Committee re: funding. Phase 1 approved. Trees tbd BoatsMet with Conservators and Camboaters – voluntary code agreed. Asking City to act Jubilee HostelTransferred to Cyrenians. RARA representative on Advisory Group Alley gatesLooked into funding – no City money, residents need to fund/organise themselves Winter grittingWorked with local councillors to highlight gritting needs of Riverside/feeder streets

2 - Activities since last AGM (Nov 2008) 5 Eastern Gate3 planning applications since March 2009. RARA collaboration with PACT and BruNK. Both hotel and residential block rejected. Residential application has gone to appeal. Development brief for Newmarket Rd & area Joint Urban Design Team meeting and workshop. Work to commence once process approved by City Council’s Development Plan Steering Group. FundingFunding approved by Cambridgeshire Community Foundation (to October 2010) Newmarket Road crossing Reviewed plans. Upgrade work starts March 15 th, approx 6 weeks. Crossing will be out of operation for 2 weeks from April 2.

Priorities for 2010? 6 Eastern Gate – represent RARA at appeal (with PACT & BruNK) – push for most appropriate height/design/traffic plans Development brief (SPD) work with JUDT Strawberry Fair 2010 liaison Community event at Museum of Technology? Possible dates: - June 12/13 or 19/20 - July 3/4 or 31/Aug 1 st Trees – site meeting to decide species and locations Boats – pursue City Council facilities and possible licensing Alley gates – support individual resident initiatives FUNDING – resident donations will provide strong foundation

The Eastern Gate site runs from Coldham’s Lane to the CRT plant (opposite Abbey Church)

A development brief (SPD) for Newmarket Road & area 18 SPD = Supplementary Planning Document Once adopted by City Council will be a ‘material consideration’ when determining new planning applications Movement of pedestrians, cycles and vehicles around area Land use eg residential, commercial, retail, access to services Open space including parks, play areas, vistas, ‘public realm’ Townscape eg age, style, height, quality etc of buildings KEY CONSIDERATIONS
