1. Read for the Record!!! Maryvale’s First Graders read with America

2. On October 8, 2009, we read The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle together with millions of children around the world.

3. We had many people read to us on this day. Here is Mrs. Edwards reading to Mrs. Pierson’s Class.

4. Mrs. McShan did a Talent Activity with us. We did a Productive Thinking Talent. We talked about the many, varied, and unusual things a very hungry caterpillar might eat.

5. We also did many activities with this book. Here is Ms. Watson’s class making their own What I Ate books. We were inspired by The Very Hungry Caterpillar.

6. In Ms. Watson’s class, we were also inspired to create tissue paper illustrations. This is how Eric Carle illustrates his books.

7. Ms. Heningburg’s Class made math caterpillars.

8. . Mrs. Brinkley-Campbell’s Class also colored and created their own caterpillars.

9. We also spent the rest of our day reading books and taking AR tests.

10. We had a blast!!! Reading is fun!!!
