The Marble-nator Brought to you by: Kristen Holdway Gabe Froula & Rayshawn Lanier
2
Meet the team Rayshawn Lanier – Data analyser Gabe Froula – team organizer/idiot Kristen Holdway – design/product tester

How It Works 1)The first baseball rolls down the ramp and strikes the second baseball. 2)The second ball falls into the floor, and the tension created in the string pulls the pin, releasing the marbles. 3)The marbles move through the tube and fall into the bucket, which pulls the bottle from its stand as falls. 4)The weight of the bottle then lifts the mass.
4
Why It Works First Ball: Gravitational Potential →Kinetic Energy Second Ball: Inelastic Collision with first ball activates Gravitational Potential Energy, which creates tension in the string & pulls the pin Marbles fall: Gravitational Potential Energy → Kinetic Energy Marbles fall out of pipe: Kinetic Energy + Gravitational Potential Energy Marbles collide with the bucket: Perfectly Elastic Collision causes the bucket to drop Bucket falling pulls the bottle from its stand: Kinetic Energy + Gravitational Potential Energy of the bottle → Kinetic Energy of the bottle
5
The Major Problem Bucket displacement ≠ Kg displacement of 1 meter Movement of pulley Addition of spool Finally, addition of bottle as counter-weight Addition of sand to absorb impact
6
Conclusion 1) Patrick is the best TA ever. 2) Marbles suck. 3) Joey is our savior. 4) Thank God for Christmas Break.
