Saturday 28 th November 07:00 Ramp #4670 07:22 Dump at flat top on losses B1 near TCP – BPM/OFB… 09:45 Injecting 12:15 Stable beams #4671 – 426 bunches – Had to hold onto this one for a long time – SPS RF problem (200 MHz cavity controller ) 21:15 #4671 – OP dump

Sunday 29 th November 00:55 Stable beams #4672 07:50 #4672 – OP dump Will now try 518 bunches with 150 ns spacing in SPS – 100_150ns_518Pb_516Pb_492_444_24_22inj

4670 – dump to losses on FT BPMWC.6L7.B1 developed a negative offset of ~-1 mm and the OFB tried to steer it back – (the date in the image header is the time when it happened, data difference with respect to 1st orbit at FT). – In the end of BPM even flipped into the other direction toward +1mm (last image) just before the dump happened. Note that the counter bump that was put it was still quite modest, only ~0.2-0.3 mm (max). We seem to be incredible sensitive with the ions. I have disabled that BPM for the moment. Jorg Wenninger

Lies, lawyers, and luminosity Nc = 400 for ATLAS and CMS Nc = 362 for ALICE ? ?

150 ns After the tests this morning we are confident that the 150 ns MKP rise time is now robust in the SPS, thanks to the great efforts of Francesco, Etienne and Gerd. The attachment shows the bunch emittances measured with 150 ns gap, which look basically similar to those for 225 ns (it would be good to check in LHC). The damper is working well on all bunches. Longitudinal profiles from BSRA Thanks to Marcus Palm who made available the application from CCM. Nice beams: 0.58% (0.42%) of satellites for B1 (B2) (bunches around +/- 5 RF buckets of the main bunch) 2.63% (1.75%) of ghost charges (bunches elsewhere besides the main bunch and the satellites definition)
