2. WHAT IS SOLAR ENERGY ? Solar power is energy from the sun and without it presence all life on earth would end. Solar energy has been for many years because of the vast amounts of energy that are made freely available, if harnessed by modern technology. A simple example of the power of the sun can be seen by using a magnifying glass to focus the sun rays on a piece of paper. Before long the paper ignites into flames.

3. HOW SOLAR ENERGY WORK Solar Panels The solar panels are made up of photovoltaic (PV) cells, which convert sunlight into direct current (DC) electricity throughout the day. Inverter This device converts the DC electricity generated by the solar panels into the alternating current (AC) electricity. Electrical Panel The AC electricity is sent from the inverter to your electrical panel to power your lights and appliances with solar energy. The electrical panel is often called a "breaker box."

5. 5 FACTS OF SOLAR ENERGY Fact 1: Solar energy is a completely free source of energy and it is found in abundance. Though the sun is 90 million miles from the earth, it takes less than 10 minutes for light to travel from that much of distance. Fact 2: Solar energy which comprises of radiant heat and light from the sun can be harnessed with some modern technology like photo-voltaic, solar heating, artificial photosynthesis, solar architecture and solar thermal electricity. Fact 3: The solar technology can be distinguished into active and passive. Photovoltaic panels and solar thermal collectors which harness solar energy are examples of active solar technology. Passive technology includes constructing rooms to improve air circulation, orienting space to favorably use sunlight. Fact 4: The earth gets 174 Petawatts of incoming solar radiation in the upper atmosphere. About 30% is reflected back to space and the rest is absorbed by oceans, clouds and land masses. Fact 5: The water cycle is an important result of solar insulation. The earth, oceans and atmosphere absorb solar radiation and their temperature rises. Warm air rises from the oceans causing convection. When this air rises to high altitudes, clouds are created by condensation of water vapor. These clouds cause rains that bring water back to the earth’s surface which completes the water cycle.

6. WHY IS SOLAR ENERGY IMPORTANT TO YOU ? Fossil fuels, like gas and oil, are not renewable energy. Once they are gone they can't be replenished. Someday these fuels will run out and then mankind will either need to come up with a new way to provide power or go back to life as it was prior to man's use of these things.renewable energy Fossil fuels create massive pollution in the environment. This pollution affects waterways, the air you breathe, and even the meat and vegetables that you eat. These fuels are expensive to retrieve from the earth and they are expensive to use. Other, more Eco-friendly energy sources like wind and solar energies are relatively inexpensive and easy to produce.

Solar energy is a resource that is not only sustainable for energy consumption, it is indefinitely renewable (at least until the sun runs out in billions of years).Solar power can be used to generate electricity, it is also used in relatively simple technology to heat water.solar water heaters.
