2 Location & Staff Located in Room 11, Bowman Hall --Lower Level of Bowman Hall Staff – 1 Director, 6 Advisors includes Transfer Liaison Support Staff – 1 Office Manager, 1 Program Assistant

3 What we do Use Developmental Advising with students Advise First Year and Undecided Students Provide support for Transfer Students Work with Undecided students -- ~ 250 students Teach Seminar In Career Exploration (1 credit) -- ~ 125 students Administer Self-Assessment Tools (MBTI, Strong)- - ~400 surveys Coordinate First Year Registration & Orientation in summer and January

4 What we do …continued Use 4 year plan / 8 semester sequence Academic Early Alert Program– 31 different courses involving about 85 faculty Stout Advising Network – meets monthly Coordinate non-degree seeking student course registration (ie special students)

5 How we work together Advisors meet with PDs at least 1x/year to get updated on programs Communication both ways to provide accurate, consistent and timely information Course availability esp during summer – generally work with Deans and Associate Deans Deans & PDs meet with incoming first year students during First Year Registration & Orientation Change of Major Forms – process 3,900+ forms 3 & 4 Year Graduation Guarantee – using Image Now to expedite process Transfer students transition process has been smoother and more students are being registered in a timely fashion
