I dismiss class; the bell does not. Do not linger after the bell to talk, ask questions, etc. Push your chair up as you exit the classroom.

Assignments Checking out does not exempt a student from turning in an assignment. A “0” will be assigned for each grade missed, but removed upon completion of the missed work or test. A “1” will be assigned for each grade student fails to turn in when present. Absent students are responsible for all work missed while out.
10
Student Responsibilities After an Absence Check the provided class calendar. If you know that you are going to be out, email Mrs. Parker in advance. (daparker@dothan.k12.al.us) Do not use class time to find out what you’ve missed. You must schedule a time to make up tests, in writing (stickey tickey). If you request a time electronically, that will suffice, also. If the work, test, quiz was assigned when you were present, you are responsible. (This is most applicable to vocabulary tests.) Academics should be a priority.

Essays will not be accepted if the submission exceeds two days after the original deadline. Quizzes =30% There will be at least one each week. Quizzes can be unannounced. Grades Mrs. Parker will make every attempt to get grades entered in INow, recorded in the gradebook, and returned to students in five days or less. This time frame does not include essays. Each student/parent is encouraged to sign up for INow. Mrs. Parker will not print progress reports for individual students upon request. If there are questions about grades, submit them in writing or report after school. All graded assignments should be placed in the student’s class folder. All grades submitted electronically should be saved.
20
Conferences When parents schedule a conference, please alert them that I am not available on Monday’s or Wednesday’s. I would like to have the student present for all teacher conferences. Parents can also submit questions, concerns, etc. via email. When students need/want a conference, the time must not coincide with a class; it should be set up or wait until before or after school.
21
Classroom Expectations No eating or drinking. If caught doing so, the item(s) will be confiscated and afterschool detention will be assigned. Be an active participant. Be respectful. Be responsible. Be honest.
22
Make-Up Work You must schedule a time, in writing, to make up work. (See Board) Please see calendars, prior to requesting make-up work. Do not expect the same test when making up work that was missed. DCS no longer has a redo/retake policy. Mrs. Parker’s policy: If a student scores 50 or less on a test, he/she can schedule a time to retake the test after meeting with Mrs. Parker. The re-take grade, however, will not exceed a 60/D. Daily/Homework grades cannot be made up after a missed date/deadline.
23
When Mrs.Parker is absent Do as you would if Mrs. Parker was present. You will be notified in advance, if Mrs.Parker is aware of her need to be out of class. Respect the adult(s) left in charge.
24
While Class is in Session Be attentive. Be an active participant. Do not put your head on the table/desk. Do not be disrespectful. Do not ask to leave the classroom.
