The Caribbean Islands Festivals and Food: Carnival is one of the most widely celebrated holidays in the Caribbean islands. Carnival is a time of festivals, feasts and parades before Lent begins.

The Caribbean Islands Festivals and Food The Caribbean's foods reflects its very diverse cultural background. Okra, yams, snouse and curry are all very popular dishes and flavors. The Caribbean also has a very unique music style…Jamaica is the birthplace of reggae.

The Caribbean islands The Islands Today: Puerto Rico today is a US commonwealth- Puerto Ricans are US citizens but do not have voting rights. Haiti is the poorest country in the Americas due to corrupt governments and an earthquake that left around 230,000 Haitians dead. Capital-* Port- au-Prince The Dominican Republics capital city is Santo Domingo- the 1 st permanent European settlement in the Western Hemisphere. Beach resorts in the DR are very popular with tourists.

The Caribbean islands The Islands Today: The largest and most populated country in the Caribbean is Cuba. Located 92 miles south of Florida Capital city is Havana Run by a Communist govt. since 1959 Many Cuban refugees become US citizens
