Esbe Rotary Motorized valves The ESBE Rotary Motorized valves (mixing valves and actuators) are used to control heating and cooling in buildings. We offer a wide range and we have the advantage of being a major supplier to several leading boiler manufacturers in Europe.

Actuators and mixing valves The demand for an efficient use of energy and for best control of indoor temperature to a reasonable cost has resulted in the development of 3- and 4-way mixing valves equipped with an automatic controlled actuator. For systems with max. static pressure of 6 or 10 bar ESBE offers a most competitive range of such products.

Select the suitable mixing valve Fields of application 1) Control of heating in radiation and under-floor systems. 2) Changeover or diverting valve (only 3-ways). Make sure that the nominal pressure, the differential pressure as well as the leak rate are within acceptable values. This information are stated for each valve. How to select a rotary mixing valve If you require high return temperature (mostly solid fuel installations) you shall choose a 4-way mixing valve. In all other applications/installations a 3-way valve is preferable. In systems with two heat sources or accumulator tanks, the BIV-valve helps to priority the cheapest energy source and keeps a good separation in the tank.

Select the suitable mixing valve Selection of mixing valve size Each size of mixing valve has a Kvs-value (capacity in m3 at a pressure drop of 1 bar) stated. It is the Kvs-value as well as the system the valve shall serve that decides which valve to choose. For a radiation system t = 20°C usually is chosen and for under floor heating t = 5°C. Suitable pressure drop should be in the range 3–10 kPa. As a rule of thumb, the lowest Kvs-value is chosen, if there are two alternative within the pressure drop range.

Select the suitable mixing valve For regulating/mixing valves The Kvs-value applies to flow in one direction only. For 4-way valves the actual ΔP is twice value shown on chart, as the water is passing the valve twice.

New Mixing valve 3MG Mixing valve 3MG DN 15 – 32 Patented solution  Leak rate max 0.05 % Traditionally rotary mixing valves have a leak rate of about 1 %. It means that a closed valve is leaking heat when this is not required and causing losses in energy and money. ESBE is now introducing an improved 3-way mixing valve reducing the leak rate to 0,05 %. The benefit is lower energy costs, up to € 100 / year.* * Calculation made for a typical Swedish one-family house with a 15 kW boiler. The valve is leaking 1 % and is closed during 4 months of the year: 4 x 30 x 24 x 15 x 0,01 = 1440 kWh 1440 x 0,07 EUR/kWh = 100 EUR/year

Mixing valves 3- and 4-way, brass ESBE 3-way valve can be used in both mixing and diverting applications. Made of DZR brass, which makes them suitable also for sanitary besides heating applications. ESBE 4-way valve has a double mixing function. When a high return temperature is needed, a 4-way valve is the right choice. Available with internal threaded and external threads or with compression fittings, 15 mm – 32 mm. Can be operated manually or be motorized, suitable motor is ESBE Series 60. All major parts are replaceable.

Mixing valves 3-way cast iron ESBE 3-way valve can be used in both mixing and diverting applications Available with internal threaded or flanged connections in a wide range of dimensions, 20 mm – 150 mm. Can be operated manually or be motorized, suitable motors are ESBE Series 60 or Series 90. All major parts are replaceable.

Mixing valves 4-way cast iron ESBE 4-way valve has a double mixing function. This results in a higher return water temperature which reduces the risk of corrosion in the boiler. Available with internal threaded or flanged connections in a wide range of dimensions, 20 mm – 150 mm. Can be operated manually or be motorized, suitable motors are ESBE Series 60 or Series 90. All major parts are replaceable.

Mixing valves type BIV ESBE mixing valve type BIV are intended for heating systems with two alternative heat sources, to give priority to the most economic sources. Applications: - Heat pumps - Solar systems - Wood boilers - By using an actuator with aux. switch a 3:rd heat source can be controlled Solar system A B A B With hot tap water boiler

Select suitable actuator When selecting actuator, it is vital to know what type of controller is going to be used and the size of the valve. This table helps you to choose the ESBE alternative that gives most value for the money.

Actuator Series 60 ESBE Actuator Series 60 for mixing valves up to 50 mm, 2”. Reversible with fixed limit switches for an operating range of 90º, can easily be operated manually. Various types for 3 - points control, running time: 1, 2, 4, 8 or 20 min, 24 or 230 VAC. Also available for various modulating signals (0 – 10 V, 2 – 10 V, 0 – 20 mA or 4 – 20 mA ) or with a built-in relay.

Actuator Series 90 ESBE Series 90 is designed for valves up to 150 mm, 6”. A reliable actuator, easy to install. Provided with adjustable cam discs to obtain an operating angle of 30º -180º, which makes the actuators very flexible. Available for 24 or 230 VAC. Many types for 3-points control, with various running times. Also available for various modulating signals (0 – 10V etc.) or with a built-in relay.

Motor Serie 90K ESBE Regulator 90 K designed for constant control of flow temperature. Available for 24 or 230 VAC. Supplied with a sensor with 1,5 m cable to be placed on the mixed flow side and wired to the motor. Applications: - Return water temperature to solid fuel boilers - Sanitary hot water with circulation - Floor-heating For selection of dwell time, 1 to 70 sec. For temp. setting 15 - 70°

Troubleshooting The valve does not regulate or the system is heated also when the valve is closed Is the installation correctly done? Is the scale plate correctly orientated? Is max. pressure drop, static pressure, leak rate considered? Is a hot water radiator installed and the return flow from this connected to the radiator system? If yes, this is causing the problem. Leakage at the spindle. Replace the O-ring! All spindles with a diameter of 12 mm have the same O-ring. The outer O-ring is easy to replace. Just remove the scale plate – No draining is required. The actuator does not run. Does it get the right voltage? If the voltage is 24V – it can be oxide. Motor series 90 with red “push-button-switch” – has the motor been manually operated without breaking the current? In that case the motor need time to reach the right position.
