PEACE started functioning in May 2002 under DSD. PEACE declared as constituent of UE in 2002. In July 2005,PEACE project was revised with new name ‘Punjab Education Assessment System’.

PEAS is responsible for NEAS and PEAS project activities in Punjab PEAS(2008) focuses on the Achievement tests in the subject of oScience and oSocial Studies Planned for the students of Grade VIII

PEAS foccused more on the massess than on individuals. Sample frame prepared by NEMS and it divided provinces in 4 parts with respect to the gender and location of the school. 222 schools 108 Urban area 114 Rural area

Punjab Education Assessment System conducted NAT 2007 grade VIII, the subjects of Urdu and Mathematics Provincial Achievement test (PAT) grade VIII,English. Workshop on multilevel modeling and data analysis in subjects of English and Social Studies for Grade IV.

PEAS organised its 3 rd stake holder conference on 19-20 August 2009. The item writing and review workshop of science and Social Studies of Grade IV was also planned for year 2008.

Now, within Pakistan,NEAS/PEAS has established a partnership with the Institute of Education and Research (IER), P.U.Lhr. And With the Federal College of Education (FCE) Islamabad as its assessment training centres (ATCs)

The scaled mean score of Punjab is higher than the other provinces. The scaled mean score of students of Punjab in Social Studies is Higher than the rest of the nation. PEAS 2008 Assessment says: PUNJAB OTHER PROVINCES

Finally, it would be pertinent to note that the development of National/provincial assessment is a challenging and complex task. NEAS/PEAS have generated data that can be used in research for high student achievement.

Hence, assessment can help Teachers improve their classroom practices through assessment and professional development. Parents understand and use assessment findings to help their children reach their potentials.
