1 Summer School Orientation

2 General Program Overview You will complete 10 hours with a teacher and 50 hours of independent work All classes must be complete and submitted by your teacher no later that August 14. Your teacher may request that you turn your work in a few days early to give him/her time to grade. Flexibility when scheduling is very important!

3 General Program Overview You must complete all assignments given by your teacher. Your teacher will give due dates for assignments. You must complete ALL assignments given by your teacher. You must pass the class to receive credit.

4 Important Points You should to come to class with all of your homework from the last session completed. You must complete a total of 10 independent hours for your final percentage to be accepted. Every week The Learning Lamp will e-mail a progress report home. We do mail hard copies. At progress report time, students who perform below a 70% or who are falling behind on independent hours will receive a phone call.

5 Attendance Policy If you need to cancel or re-schedule a scheduled session, you should contact your teacher directly. In the case that you are unable to contact your teacher, you should contact The Learning Lamp right away. You must give your teacher at least 3 hour’s notice if you must cancel a scheduled session.

6 Attendance Policy A $27.00 fee will be charged if you don’t show up or don’t call your teacher 3 hours in advance. Please call your teacher if you will be late. If you are more than 10 minutes late for your tutoring session, you teacher may leave and you will be charged as though it was a skipped session.

7 Attendance Policy In the case that you fail to contact your teacher to cancel a scheduled session several times in a row, The Learning Lamp may terminate services. If you come to class unprepared, your teacher will send you home and that will count as a skipped session.

8 Attendance Policy If you need to cancel a scheduled class and cannot contact your teacher, please call The Learning Lamp office at 814-262-0732.

12 Your Book Your will receive your book and first assignments when you meet with your teacher for the first time. DO NOT write in your book! A fee of $30.00 is charged if your book is not returned or damaged. Please sign the Book Care Agreement.

13 Tutor Center Hours Monday-Wednesday9:00 AM to 6:00 PM Thursday and Friday9:00 AM to 7:00 PM Saturday10:00 AM to 3:00 PM SundayClosed

14 Drop In Hours Students may use computers in the tutor room at any time during the tutor center hours. This year we are offering drop in hours during which time students may stop into the office to receive additional help with one of the office staff. The drop in schedule will be posted.
