Posters What are the conventions of a movie poster? Title is large and either at the bottom or top Large image, filling most of the space No text over the characters’ faces Actors’ names at the top. Often in capitals Font is carefully chosen – here to create mystery and romance Lots of light on characters Colours – carefully chosen to create mood. Here, soft oranges to link to time of ‘twilight’ Image carefully chosen to give information about movie – here romance – profiles of main characters before a kiss Credit block at the bottom to give industry information Release details Company logos

Homework Choose three of the posters below and write your own textual analysis of them in annotations around the poster A* - B Detailed analysis of three posters Lots of comments about WHY certain elements are chosen C Analysis of three posters Some comments as to why certain images, fonts, layouts used D Annotations of three posters Comments tend to DESCRIBE the elements, rather than analyse

Poster Create a Media folder in your h drive and call this unit Teen Movies Create a blank document in Moodle Search through dafont to find correct font Layout the poster in Publisher for all except the photograph
