5 Strategy We have previously looked at the stages involved with setting up an e-commerce site. This however is different to a strategy What does strategy mean ? “Strategy refers to basic directional decisions,that is, to purposes and missions” “Strategy is perspective, that is, vision and direction.”

6 Impact Analysis With the beginning of the internet many new companies started, offering products and services. However many successful e-commerce companies were started offline many years before the internet even existed.

7 Impact Analysis Offline companies that want to trade via e-commerce will be effected by change. We have looked at some changes previously: channel conflicts, changes in staff, efficiencies etc To understand changes a process called impact analysis can be used, it is used widely in business for a variety of areas (not just e-commerce)

8 Impact Analysis meanings “The process of understanding the complete effect of a particular change.” “Identifying the impact of change on an object to its related objects.” “The process of determining the organizational costs and benefits of a proposed alternative.” “The identification of critical business processes, and the potential damage or loss that may be caused to the organisation resulting from a disruption to those processes”
