Boland Ladies Golf Union Transformation Charter (2010-2016) 2 Introduction Because of a widespread and common understanding and acceptance of the need for golf to transform, Boland Ladies Golf has adopted the custodianship of this transformation charter. Ownership of the charter needs to be embraced by the broader golfing fraternity in South Africa and all golfing stakeholders need to be active participants in the implementation of the goals of the charter.

Boland Ladies Golf Union Transformation Charter (2010-2016) 3 Preamble Boland Ladies Golf accept that the Transformation Charter for golf is different from other sports for the following reasons: Wide age range of participants Detachment between social, competitive & professional play Spectator participation Cost of equipment, amenities & facilities Perceptions around societal status of participants Social player to competitive player ratio inversely proportional to that of other sports

Boland Ladies Golf Union Transformation Charter (2010-2016) 4 SRA “Transformation is a conscious, deliberate, planned and goal-directed process of fundamentally changing conditions that in the past have led to the deliberate exclusion of the majority of our people from meaningful participation in sport and recreation and from taking their rightful place in the sports movements of the world.” SAGA WGSA “ Transformation is a consciously planned process of creating conditions and opportunities that in the future will lead to the inclusion of any South African in meaningful participation in golf, both socially and competitively and thus enabling them to earn their rightful place in the golfing community of the world. Boland Ladies “ Transformation is a consciously planned process of creating conditions and opportunities that in the future will lead to the inclusion of any South African within the jurisdiction of the Boland Province in meaningful participation in golf, both socially and competitively and thus enabling them to earn their rightful place in the golfing community of the world.”

Broaden the talent base and facilitate the unearthing of talent Healthier society Fight the scourge of drugs and other addictions Allows people to participate in the sport of their choice Optimal access & utilisation of facilities Accessibility will improve Advantageous access to government & commercial resources Promote golf as a “sport for all within the Boland Province

Boland Ladies Golf Union Transformation Charter (2010-2016) 10 Transformation Priorities To Implement a sustainable Transformation Charter To improve the demographic representation within the sport of golf To promote golf for females To promote and encourage golf as a school sport To liaise and integrate student golfers To further standards and increase the numbers of high performance golfers To educate and enable talented golfers to proceed successfully in the sport To raise funding to facilitate the participation of all within the sport of golf To encourage affiliated golf clubs to ‘open their doors’ to all with affordable membership packages Awareness and education programmes for members of the golf industry

Developing relationship with SAGA & SADGA

Increased representation at Club Committee level To provide and guide affiliated clubs with regards to the Transformation Charter and development programmes Boland Ladis Golf Union in conjunction with affiliated club committees 1-3 years Increase in representation on club committees and in the role of Captain. % of representation increased.
