History The first settlers came to Australia from Asia about years ago. Aboriginal people mainly lived as hunter-gatherers, hunting and foraging for food from the land. European arrival in 1788, Aborigines inhabited the whole of the contident and were adapted to the wide variety of climate and natural conditions.

Music and Art Aborigines have developed unique instruments and folk styles. The didgeridoo is commonly considered the national instrument of Australian Aborigines. Art has a history spanning thousands of years. Best known forms being rock art and bark painting.

Food Australian Aboriginals eat a variety bugs. For example Ants, grubs and beetles. They also eat fish and bird. The yellow fat of the goanna (a large Australian lizard) was considered a delicacy.
