Today’s Sermon: Psalms 8: “The Lord’s Glory And Man’s Dignity” by Pastor Jim Bomkamp

1. King David gravely ill & suffering greatly, vented to the Lord 2. David was also acutely aware of his own sinfulness and wonders if his illness may be directly related to his sin. 3. He asked the Lord not to discipline him in anger. 4. King David appealed to the Lord to be merciful to him and not deal with him as his sin deserved. 5. In spite of his sin King David knows the Lord will answer. : Review of Psalm 6:

Review of Psalm 7: 1. The Psalmist implored the Lord to defend and rescue him from his enemies. 2. King David wrote of his own difficulties, and how he requested the Lord’s deliverance from his enemies. But, one thing we considered as we looked at this Psalm is the fact that it was the Lord Jesus Christ, the Messiah, who is the ultimate one pictured in this Psalm. His suffering was prefigured there.

Outline of today’s study: Ps 8 4. We will also see how that this Psalm is a Messianic Psalm. 3. We will discuss how great God’s grace is to us humble creatures. 1. King David gazes out into the night sky and observing the stars and the moon he recognizes the greatness and majesty of the Lord. 2. We will consider some that we know from the field of modern astronomy that illustrates just how accurate King David’s assessment is.

CONCLUSIONS: 1. The condescending grace of God in sending His Son to earth to redeem mankind and provide salvation for us should move us to great adoration and praise of God. 2. If the Lord has condescended to the level He has in bringing salvation to us, then we need to realize that we can trust Him with our lives and to complete that work He has begun in our lives. 3. Don’t you think you can trust the Lord to be your Lord and run your life if He can create in such incredible ways?
