2. Sin entered into the world through deception when Eve was deceived by Satan. One of the things God hates is “a lying tongue.” No one likes to be lied to or be deceived in some fashion. But the worst deception of all is when one deceives himself. Tonight let’s continue our discussion on ways we deceive ourselves. Revelation 21:8 All liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.''

3. Minimize our sin Sin is sin All sin must be repented of. Omni-present Thinking God is like man Omniscient Omnipotent You can’t hide from God When We Think God Will Be Pleased With And Accept All Worship. God will reject our worship if it is not done in the right way. From the heart Placing Our Faith In Tomorrow No one has the promise of tomorrow. When we think that we are just deceiving ourselves.

4. One May Deceive Himself By Thinking A Certain Way Is Right When It Is Wrong Saul of Tarsus was guilty of this. Acts 23:1 "Men and brethren, I have lived in all good conscience before God until this day.'' Man cannot guide himself in spiritual matters. Jeremiah 10:23 I know, O Lord, that the way of man is not in himself, that it is not in man who walks to direct his steps. Proverbs 16:25 There is a way that seems right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death. Jesus Christ and His wordThere is only one safe guide.

5. John14:6 "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” He left us an example. I Peter 2:21 For to this you were called, because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that you should follow His steps: His word will show us the way. Psalms 119:105 Your word is a lamp to my feet And a light to my path. In His word we find eternal life. John 6:68 "Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life.

6. When One Attempts To Change The Bible Through the centuries many have deceived them- selves and others by perverting the Word of God. Isaiah 30:10 Who say to the seers, "Do not see,'' and to the prophets, "Do not prophesy to us right things; speak to us smooth things, prophesy deceits. Some people want it that way.Even today. II Timothy 4:3-4 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables.

7. Some change the word because they don’t like what they see. James 1:23-25 For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man observing his natural face in a mirror; for he observes himself, goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was. But he who looks into the perfect law of liberty and continues in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work, this one will be blessed in what he does. God’s word is a mirror for the soul They try to change the word to fit them instead of changing themselves to fit the word. Remember, we will be judged by the word of God.

8. Thinking They Are More Important Than What They Really Are Romans 12:3 For I say, through the grace given to me, to everyone who is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think soberly, as God has dealt to each one a measure of faith. How important is it for us to humble ourselves? James 4:6 But He gives more grace. Therefore He says: "God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble.'' James 4:10 Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and He will lift you up.

9. We should do the sameJesus humbled Himself Honor and prestige from God will come to us only when we realize we are to be servants, Matthew 20:25-28. Philippians 2:3-8 Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself. Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others. Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a servant, and coming in the likeness of men. And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross. I Corinthians 15:10 But by the grace of God I am what I am.

10. Many Deceive Themselves By Thinking They Can Sow One Thing And Reap Something Else Galatians 6:2 Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap. You cannot live wrong and die right. Reaping what has sown is a universal law. In spiritual matters it is God’s law. Ahab thought he could disguise himself and get around this law, but he was only deceiving himself.

11. You will reap what you have sown. You will reap more than what you have sown. You will reap what you have sown later. Numbers 32:23 Be sure your sin will find you out. If not in this life then at the judgment. Ecclesiastes 12:14 For God will bring every work into judgment, including every secret thing, whether it is good or whether it is evil. Thee things you should remember about the law of sowing and reaping.
