4 MEMORY VERSE Therefore since we’ve been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. Romans 5:1

5 What? Definition of Justification Greek- diakaiosis (dik-ah’-yo-sis) which comes from dikaioo (dik-ah-yo-o) -regard and treat mankind as righteous, to absolve from the consequences of sin and admit to the enjoyment of divine favor

6 What? Definition of Justification A change in our standing before God.

7 Who? God acquits us. Not on the grounds of innocence (as man-made courts do) but on the basis of His own Son’s sacrifice by His grace and mercy. Romans 5:8

8 How? How are we justified? By His death and resurrection, our guilt was transferred onto Jesus and our forgiveness was then made possible. Romans 4:23-25 By grace through the blood of Jesus. Romans 3:24-26; 5:9-10 By faith in His love, His Word and His grace. Philippians 3:9, Heb. 10:38, Hab. 2:4, Eph. 2:8

9 How How are we justified? We are justified through faith. Romans 3:28 Romans 3: 19-27 (supporting scripture)

10 Definition of Sanctification Greek - hagiasmos (hag-ee-as-mos) from hagiazo (hag-ee-ad-zo) - to make holy, purify, consecrate -To set apart for sacred use. Hagiasmos refers not only to the activity of the holy Spirit in setting us apart unto salvation and transferring us into the ranks of the redeemed, but also to enable us to be holy even as God is holy. HOLINESS - to have the attributes of God manifested in one’s life.

11 MEMORY VERSE John 17:17 (Jesus speaking) Sanctify them through Thy truth: Thy word is truth. (Sanctified by God to out into the World for God)

12 MEMORY VERSE 1 Thess. 5:23 (Paul speaking) And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. (God the Father sanctifying you and preserving you until the day Jesus returns)
