Bell Ringer 12/4 Based on what we read in “The Lotus-Eaters” and “The Cyclops”, what do you believe to be important to the ancient Greeks of this time? Why?

Class/Home Work: Visual Interpretation
Directions: Choose a memorable scene from either “I am Odysseus” or “The Lotus- Eaters” or “The Cyclops”. Then, answer the following questions on half a sheet of computer paper: I chose this scene because… (Write a few sentences on why you chose this scene. What is significant or important about it?) Odysseus is presented as an epic hero in this scene by… (what does he do that falls under one of the epic hero elements?) Last, draw this scene on the other half of the paper.

12/7 Bell Ringer Why do you believe the cyclopes, and specifically Polyphemus, show no respect for the gods, even though they are born from the gods? They live by different rules; they are the CHILDREN of gods which puts them on a different level (minor power gods). Even though they show disrespect, their prayers/requests are held higher than mortals.
